EV level 2 charging infrastructure: large scale applications | Eaton PSEC
12:19
As EV adoption increases, design consultants are tasked with integrating EV charging infrastructure, electricity planning, and building code updates. See how Eaton’s EV charging infrastructure solutions can make that happen today and in the future. In this video we illustrate scenarios that design consultants may need to consider in planning EV charging infrastructure. Erik Hurd, Senior Engineer Power Systems Experience Center, explains what EV level 2 charging is and concerns electrical consultants and facility managers should factor while designing public charging infrastructure, such as: • Size and type of EV chargers based on growth forecast • Infrastructure based on power supply and possible upgrades • Software platform to manage access and payment Gerry Feldmeier, Application Specialist, Energy Transition Market Segment, discusses building codes and regulations for EV infrastructure within new and existing facilities. This is beneficial for electrical consultants to consider as they design the EV charging within parking garages, campuses, and EV fleet management. To that, Gerry illustrates three examples of electrifying sites for EV charging and discusses the following solutions: EV charging solutions for a parking garage (multi-family complex) • Building codes regulating minimum EV parking spots (EV-installed, EV-ready, and EV-capable) • EV mounting and wiring options • EV smart breakers • EV panelboard solutions Electrifying a facility parking area (college and hospital campuses for example) • Power management software • Maximize energy capacity by throttling chargers • Parking availability EV fleet management • EV load management • Advanced clean fleet regulation • Battery storage • EV charging busway Learn more about Eaton’s electric vehicle charging solutions.
